los angeles, ca- with the LA basin and my hometown of Palos Verdes receiving its first heavy dosage of rainfall this year, pollution levels have skyrocketed, leaving behind a visable trace of what we have discarded, misplaced or simply poured down the drain.
all things lead to the sea. this is reality.
rain gutters, sewer pipes, even your very own kitchen sink and bathtub somehow, after being treated, reach the open ocean; either by physical pipes, evaporation and distribution through weather systems and rain.
as a waterman i am concerned, as are my friends on days like this. large swells rolling in from the horizon come head to head with a river of outflowing garbage, sewage and pollution that turns those beautiful peaks into frothing dirty marshmellow scourges of bacteria. while most stay away, a certain few brave the waters and do what comes most natural to them. and i get that. for me, i feel most alive in the water.
i just dont want to have to do it with a penicillin shot.
